Corrective exercises utilized by our chiropractor can further strengthen supporting tissues to hold ideal alignments. Our chiropractor teaches you uniquely designed "blueprint" exercises that can be performed at home to improve the effectiveness of your spinal correction by as much as 30-40%.

Interferential electrical muscle stimulation enables enhanced mobility in specific muscle groups around injured areas. This treatment provides relief from chronic pain, acute pain, and painful muscle spasms. It is also used by chiropractors to work atrophied muscles, increase blood flow and improve range of motion.

Mechanical traction uses a variety of devices to relieve pressure between vertebrae to reduce or eliminate patient pain. Mechanical traction is also used to stabilize injured areas to prevent further damage when muscles, tendons and ligaments are damaged and cannot stabilize the injury without additional support.

Cryotherapy (cold therapy) treats inflammation and swelling with cold to reduce pain and return tissues to more normal function.

Diathermy is a term used to describe relaxing, electrically-induced heat therapies using ultrasound and electric stimulation.

Microamperage neural stimulation is used to improve mobility and relieve pain. These treatments stimulate the production of endorphins and the body’s natural analgesics. This physiotherapy treatment can often reduce a client’s need for over-the-counter and prescription pain medications.

Moist heat therapy can aid heat penetration into the muscles and soft tissues. Moist heat therapy includes treatments like hot towels, hot baths, and steam baths. For some Herndon and Reston clients, moist heat therapy penetrates better and provides better overall pain reduction.

Paraffin baths are particularly effective for hands and feet in providing deep penetrating heat to improve circulation, relax tight muscle and reduce inflammation. Like moist heat therapies, paraffin provides long lasting heat penetration and softens and moisturizes the skin.

Work hardening rehabilitation programs help patients improve functional performance through focused work function exercises. The goal of work hardening is to give clients functional physical practice, a little bit like an athlete practices correct form for free throws in basketball. By practicing correct form for common work tasks, Herndon and Reston clients can improve performance and reduce risk of soft tissue damage due to repetitive stress from incorrect form.
